Wedding planning with a different twist!

Lately, I have been so buried with emails, papers, meetings, menu designing, room bookings, and this list could go on forever and ever – and consequently, I have abandoned my blogging which actually makes me a little sad. So today, if you are reading this and should be expecting an email from me please forgive me for the delay. It was only just now that my dearest talented friend Nigel Edgecombe sent me the link to our 2018 MENU TASTING that took place this year on 28 April at Païssa. We had 8 beautiful couples join us and we had what I would say was a magical evening together. Everything was perfect: the vibe, the people, and of course, the food provided by Silver Spoon Ibiza.

what is a tasting event?

Obviously you get to taste the food, but our tastings are much more than that. A menu tasting at Païssa d’en Bernat is like a little run-through of your Ibiza wedding day. So in a way, it is a “reduced” wedding without the ceremony bit but with all the good bits!

The tasting event starts at the pretty front garden terrace where we give clients a time-frame to arrive (as we would do on a wedding day) and we give them a first welcome drink and a useful piece of paper which explains the day and the menu they will be tasting that same day – boxes to tick were applied.

Of course, at this stage, everyone is a little shy and in their corner, but us (Vittoria and myself) as wedding planners (Cris Crown Ibiza) make sure that people start to accommodate and feel comfortable.

The next part, which is a normal wedding would be after the ceremony, is to move on to the cocktail reception – where we bring out the SANGRIA and of course the socializing starts he-he

At this year’s tasting, we had a selection of one Classic Red Sangria, two White Wine Sangrias, a Rosé Wine Sangrias, and a very popular Cava Sangría! All prepared by our talented team member Noemi.

Once everyone had a drink in their hand, out came the FOOD! Beautiful trays of Spanish inspired canapes started the food experience – the options here were:

Cold Selection:

Seasonal Crostini Selection (Roasted cherry tomato-pesto, Roast red pepper-basil & Mint-tomato-avocado)

Serrano Ham Wrapped Seasonal Fruit (Melon, Peach, etc.)

Chilled Traditional Gazpacho Shots with Light Crisp Bread & White Gazpacho with Beetroot Grape & Dill

Rustic trays of Manchego Shavings & Sun-Ripened Tomato Bruschetta

Hot Selection:

Cider Cooked Chorizo Bite with Quince Ali Oli

Mini Chicken Satay Skewers

Spanish Pintxo de Tortilla with Green Peppers

Greek Filo Parcels with Tzatziki Sauce

Pata Negra Spanish Croquetas

We gave this part of the day 45 minutes and as on a wedding day people hung around informally by the bar, the pool area, the covered terrace, and by the gazebo area. At the Gazebo we had the amazing Nell Shakespeare playing live music and ah! I didn’t mention earlier, but the weather accompanied beautifully! We were actually quite lucky as it was cloudy the day before and the day after, but the sun shined for us that day!

Next, everyone moved to their table to start the main meal. Some had a family-style sharing starter, others went straight into the BBQ experience! There was lamb, chicken, beef, fish, prawns, veggies, and Mediterranean salads! Everyone happily tucked into the wine selection and main meal while making their notes on dishes and listening to Ibiza Chilled music played by DJ Ian Kennedy.

And of course, all great meals end off on a sugar peak! (I love dessert!!) So to get people up (and this is a great recommendation for your Ibiza wedding regardless of the wedding venue you have chosen) we decided to make a Dessert Table. This was strategically set up by the bar as we had Espresso martinis for people to enjoy while watching the sunset. Love the look of a rustic dessert station for this venue!

We closed the day with individual (short) meetings with each couple separately on which we spoke about the highlights and food requests. My overall feel for this day was so positive that I really needed to stop doing what I was doing and I needed to share this story. I feel blessed by the job I have and the people I get to meet on the way. Stunning couples, each with their own stories of how they met and how they connect to Ibiza, and of course the core of me, my team! Noemi, Zoe, Joan, Vittoria, José, Emanuel, Luís, and many others without forgetting the most important people, Lynda and Enrique, the villa owners and my dearest parents who will roll their sleeves up and help with the washing up, moving chairs around and even last minute transfers where required! Thanks to all for making my journey so enjoyable and my job so pleasant!
